First Friday – This Month’s Festivities

On the first Friday of each month, downtown State College transforms into a festival in which community residents can enjoy arts, music activities, and best of all, retail and restaurant discounts.

This month’s First Friday events are sure to keep you busy downtown Friday night. Here are a few of our favorite events happening this weekend:

Open Air Art Exhibit

Join Jonathan Preston as he hosts the open-air art exhibit along with refreshments and live music by Kyle Konkle and Anthony Preucil. Preston’s art will be featured along with June Ramsay.

Where: Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza

Time: 6:00 – 8:30pm.

Make Your Own Art

Head to the Penn State Downtown Theatre Center to create your own art during the “Sound & Sketch” creative drawing experience. The event will be led by Maake Magazine editor Emily Burns.

Where: Penn State Downtown Theatre (Woskob Family Gallery)

Miya Matsui Live Art

Fine artist Miya Matsui will also be in attendance this month as she creates works of art right in front of your eyes at Anthym Running. Matsui’s work is primarily created with oils and revolve around the strength of the human spirit.

Art History Walk

Explore the art in downtown State College during the Art History Walk. You’ll get a chance to see the hidden art all around downtown.

Where: Info Booth

When: 6:30pm

In addition to so many more activities and entertainment,¬†many downtown stores will have extended hours along with free parking in the Pugh, Fraser and Beaver garages. You don’t want to miss this!
