Student Programming Association Gearing Up for an Exciting September
The Student Programming Association (SPA) announced its September lineup on Wednesday, featuring a wide range of activities for students to enjoy.
Starting on Friday, September 2nd, Tim McCarny, a folk artist from Nashville will be performing in the HUB – Robeson Center’s Noontime Lounge as part of SPA Noontime’s Concert Series at 12. Students with a valid Penn State ID can enter a raffle for floor tickets to the Kanye West concert on September 30th. For those interested in becoming familiar with Tim’s music, he has recently released an EP entitled “Above the Trees” last spring.
Later on September 2nd, be sure to visit the Nittany Ninja Warrior event, hosted by SPA LateNight, in the HUB-Robeson Center’s Alumni Hall. The event will run from 9pm to 1am and consist of two obstacle courses (Kapow and Big Baller), as well as a mechanical bull.
On Friday, September 9th, SPA’s Noontime Concert Series will present Palmlines, an indie, post-rock band in the HUB-Robeson Center’s Noontime Lounge at 12 pm and once again, there will be a raffle for a limited number of floor tickets to Kanye’s concert at the BJC on September 30th.
Adult Mom, a band self – described as “bedroom pop”, will be performing for SPA’s Noontime Concert Series in the HUB-Robeson Center on Friday, September 16th. Adult Mom, known for their stripped down acoustic sets will be performing at 12pm in the Noontime Lounge.
On September 23rd, a band named Jack and the Coax, an indie rock band described as having raw psych and garage band sounds will be performing as part of SPA’s Noontime Concert Serie on Friday, September 23rd. Featuring songs off their two EP’s, such as, “Bummer Demos” and “Whiskey Kids”, the band looks forward to performing their hits for both fans and the general audience.
On September 23rd, ThinkFast, an interactive trivia experience will come to the HUB-Robeson Center’s Alumni Hall as part of SPA LateNight. There will be two shows, at 9:30 and 11:00pm. Students with will be able to take part one of the two shows with the chance to win cash prizes. The day after on September 24th, Laser Tag, presented by SPA LateNight will be in the HUB-Robeson Center’s Alumni Hall at 9pm.
Lastly, on Friday, September 30th, Jesse Ruben will be performing as part of SPA’s Noontime Concert series at 12pm. A native from Philadelphia, the Brooklyn singer-songwriter gained recognition for his inspirational songwriting after his personal struggle with Lymes disease.
