Telefone – A Noname Masterpiece

Telefone

Noname, formally known as Noname Gypsy, first hit my radar on Chance The Rapper’s “Lost” from Acid Rap. Her smooth soothing vocals immediately caught my attention and in those short few versus, she became an artist I would have to keep my eye on. She popped up again on Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment’s Surf in the song ‘Warm Enough‘. In her highly anticipated debut mixtape, ‘Telefone’, she effortlessly shows the world that her music is complexly beautiful. Through the slam poetry and spoken word style lyrics, she tells stories of her life and times with friends. It reminds me of family reunions and cookouts and left me feeling like I had just came from choir practice at my church.

If you’ve never heard of Noname, its time you learned of this beautiful woman. Her voice and musical style is truly one of a kind. If you like artists that tell stories with their verses and paint pictures with their rhymes, similar to Chance the Rapper or J. Cole, Noname should be on your personal radar. This mixtape was definitely one of my favorites released this year and I am looking forward to her future projects.

You can listen to this beautiful creation below and believe me, you won’t regret this.
