Yeezy Season 4 Controversy

Early last week, Kanye West launched his new clothing line in New York’s Roosevelt Island. His casting call was for multiracial women only. Many were outraged at his requirements for multiracial models only; thinking that this meant lightskin models or even mixed models only.

Some women that stood in line for his casting call, held up signs expressing their disapproval on the matter. One sign read ‘Multiracial only= Lightskin only, you ain’t slick, Ye’. One woman standing in line had the words written on her stomach: they want black features not black girls. Others knew exactly what Kanye meant, as the casting call line was filled with beautiful brown skin, dark skin, light skin women.

It’s surprising how many people mistook Kanye’s demand for multiracial models for lightskin women only. On Twitter, people were going back and forth about how disgraceful this request was. The backlash was endless. However in an interview Kanye explains that what he said was taken completely out of context. He says, “How do you word the idea that you want all variations of black? How do you word that exactly?” We see you Kanye.
