State College Families Invited to “Let’s Dance” Movement Workshop
Members of The For Good Performance Troupes, directed by Krista Wilkinson, Michele Dunleavy, associate professor of Dance at Penn State and Alliance of the Heroic Hearts will be hosting the Let’s Dance movement workshop for families. This one-hour event is free and open to the public. It will take place at the corner of Park Ave. and Allen Rd, on the lawn on the Ford Building at 4PM on September 16th, 2016.
With help from the Penn State School of Theater and Dunleavy, simple choreography was created to be danced to The For Good Music Troupes. The For Good Music Troupes are musical groups comprising children and young adults with Down Syndrome and musical theater students to perform beside. The troupes create opportunities to sing, act and dance in a musical theater experience. It was founded five years ago by Wilkinson and co-sponsored by the Centre Region Down Syndrome Society and Penn State’s Omega Phi Alpha sorority
Those planning to participate do not need to register to attend and should wear comfortable clothing. No prior experience is required. Parking for this workshop is available at the Nittany Parking Deck.
