SPA Presents: Brothers Osborne
The Student Programming Association (SPA) hosted a Brothers Osborne concert in Alumni Hall on Friday night as part of SPA LateNight. The free event brought out about 200 people to see the Grammy-nominated country group. Brothers Osborne performed some of their top songs including “Pawn Shop“, “American Crazy“, “Greener Pastures“, “Rum“, and many more.
The stage was decorated with a plethora of guitars, large television sets, old radios, and patterned rugs beneath their feet. Their props set the tone for the performance. An Indian figurine was placed on the left corner of the stage, and a lamp shade in the form a a women’s leg in pantie hose was placed on the right.
Late Night Chair Joey Niedziejko says that this concert is a part of bringing diverse genres of music to Penn State.
“We pride ourselves in bringing in diverse acts. We try to hit all the genres like country alternative, and rap. It’s adding to our series of acts.”
Although these events are sporadic throughout the semester, Niedziejko says that events like this happen almost bi-weekly. Although it was a little bit of flurries outside, the weather did not stop the show.
“I’m excited about the turnout, especially because of the weather. We only had a week to market this” says Niedziekjo.
Both of the Osborne brothers, their two other guitarist, and their drum player satisfied the crowd with their performance. Their classic songs, stage set up, and mellow atmosphere created yet another successful Late Night SPA event.
