Fireworks go off during the Blue and White Society’s Rally in the Valley at Medlar Field on Friday, October 21, 2016.

Celebrate the nation’s founding in State College with Central PA 4thFest, a fourth of July celebration with music, arts, fireworks and more.

The fest kicks off at 9 a.m. with the Firecracker 4K & 4Mile Races at the Bryce Jordan Center. After the run, the Heroes Parade will start downtown at 2 p.m.

Food vendors will also open at 2 p.m. on Curtin Road along with kids crafts and face painting, musical performances, visits to the All Sports Museum, a roller derby, woodcarving, and more.

“We have really stepped up the music this year with more variety — country, polka, Dixieland, R&B, doo wop and classic rock,” said Karl Libhart, executive director of the Central PA 4thFest in a release to Penn State News.

After enjoying all the food and fun that 4thFest has to offer, fireworks will be displayed at 9:15 p.m. on campus. The fireworks display is one of the largest in the country, with more than 600 volunteers participating and 13,000 man-hours to put together.

Admission to 4thFest is free, but a $10 car donation is requested for those looking to park at the festival. More information about the festival and the full lineup of events can be found here.
