Penn State students are teaming up to raise money for THON through a Food Truck Fiesta Friday at Grace Luthern Church.
From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., food trucks, clothing vendors, live music and yard games will line Garner Street with a portion of the proceeds going to the annual dance marathon.
The food trucks in attendance range from international cuisine, barbeque, and pretzels with vendors such as ‘Just Better BBQ,’ ‘Brazilian Munchies,’ ‘Salsa’s Food Truck, ‘Doan’s Bones BBQ’ and more with clothing brands ‘Love Your Melon’ and ‘Win All Over.’
The idea of the Food Truck Fiesta came about last spring, as the founders, including junior kinesiology major Sarah Menna, noticed that food trucks were growing in popularity and wanted to see the trend brought to State College, with a chance to also support a great cause.
“All of our team is passionate about THON, and we wanted to bring a creative way to raise money to State College,” said Menna. “We’re hoping the event is fun for everyone involved, from our vendors to those attending, and we’re hoping it’ a successful way to raise money FTK.”
While the event is sure to attract college students, Menna hopes the event will also attract those visiting for Saturday’s football game and community members.
“We’ll be having live music and yard games to enjoy. We’re expecting a fun atmosphere for not only students but also for families living in or visiting State College,” she said.
