Great Insect Fair to offer public a glimpse into the world of insects
The Entomology Department in the College of Agricultural Sciences is sponsoring the Penn State Great Insect Fair Saturday, giving the public a glimpse into the lives of insects.
“Many intriguing aspects of insect behavior happen at times or in places that make them difficult for people to see,” said Margarita López-Uribe, assistant professor of entomology in a release on Penn State News.
“For example, the Insect Fair will offer an exhibit on gall insects, which trick plants into building structures where the insects have protected places to feed and reproduce.”
The fair, taking place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Snider Ag Arena, will feature a nocturnal-insect tent, an insect zoo, backyard bees, butterfly tents, and more.
Admission and parking for the fair are free, but donations are encouraged to help defray costs.
Parking is available at the Centre County/Penn State Visitor Center.
