Pop Up Ave Pops Up Downtown
Pop Up Ave stopped by State College this weekend for another year of flea market festivities. Guests of all ages showed up to enjoy the free event that took place in the Garner Street parking lot downtown. For the second year in a row, organizers of Pop Up Ave brought their urban-style flea market back for an even bigger and better event. Vintage sellers and vendors displayed their art, food, jewelry, and just about everything else imaginable. The event featured live music throughout the day as patrons wandered around the lot. With the feature of a beer garden, those of drinking age had the option to revel in a cold beer from Elk Creek Cafe & Aleworks.
“Pop Up Ave brings authenticity to State College,” says Kira North, artist of Hazel Tree and Beck. North says it is her first time, but definitely not her last time, vending. She shared that what makes Pop Up Ave unique is the ability to connect with the artists you are buying from and supporting.
Katie Gear, a first time helper for Pop Up Ave, shared her hopes for its future, saying “people should come for the authenticity of the unique products that you can’t find anywhere else and to support the creativity of individuals around the area.”
Pop Up Ave organizers are working to bring the flea market-inspired affair back to State College more regularly, hoping to make it a frequent function.
