2017 Homecoming Court Announced
Penn State Homecoming announced the 2017 Homecoming Court Monday through Homecoming’s Court Crash, an annual event where Homecoming representatives surprise court members throughout campus.
“Court Crash is most definitely my favorite event,” said Royalty Director Anuja Jonnalagadda in a release to The Underground. “The Royalty and Executive Committees go to classrooms, club meetings, or lunches to surprise members of the Court throughout their day. We try to involve Court members’ close friends in this process so that the day is all the more special and meaningful.”
This year’s Student Court features Cayla Castells, Megan McCloskey, Kosar Abolhassani, Katie Jordan, Hannah Pholmann, Aaron Blakney, Ryan Lennon, Alex Shockley, Jorge ZuritaCoronado, and Jon Muth.

“It is incredibly rewarding to be able to recognize students who’ve given so much to the Penn State community,” said Homecoming Student Court Captain Madi Barnes in the same release. “These students have made the most of their time here and are fantastic role models for current and future students.”
For University Court, Cathy Hunt (Senior Lecturer Penn State Chemistry Department), Laura Pauley (Mechanical Engineering Professor), Megan Abplanap (Academic Advisor and Recruiter College of Earth and Mineral Sciences), Jadrian Wooten (Lecturer Department of Economics), and Joseph Houck (Lecturer Penn State Chemistry Department) all made the list.

Per tradition, Homecoming also has an Alumni Court, that “honors Nittany Lions who continue to make Penn State proud day after day.” For the first time, this year’s Alumni Court is open to all Penn State Alumni.
The 2017 Alumni Court includes Beth Napolitano, Aubrey Sejuit, Jason Whitney, and Kevin Horne.
In addition to the traditional Student, University, and Alumni Court, this year Homecoming will also have a Graduate Student Court. Homecoming collaborated with the Graduate and Professional Student Association (GSPA) to select a male and female graduate student to represent graduate and professional students during Homecoming. Charles Gibson and Katie Bateman will serve during in the inaugural positions.
“Homecoming selects Court members who truly embody the Penn State spirit,” continued Jonnalagadda. “We select representatives that give back to the community and really strive to be their best selves and positively influence others.”
2017 Homecoming Court members will make appearances at various Homecoming events this fall including the Homecoming Parade and Homecoming Football Game on Nov. 11 against Rutgers University.
