Theta Chi and OPPerations Host Haunted House Benefiting THON
Sunday Scaries FTK!
Theta Chi and the THON OPPerations Committee hosted a haunted house on Sunday night to raise money for THON and to spook people into the Halloween spirit.
The Theta Chi House was transformed into a dark, haunted mansion. When you walked in, it felt like a horror movie. It was dark. Strobe lights and eerie noise machines had you on your toes. Decorations were on point.
There were masks everywhere. More than 20 Theta Chi brothers and THON OPPerations captains were scattered throughout the house making people jump out of their socks as they turned the corners. There was a live torture table, a scary chainsaw man, and several other masked actors scaring you at every corner. But that was just the first floor.
A scary clown directed you down to the basement where you were immediately surrounded by at least eight guys in hockey masks. If you made it past them, you were greeted by two witches serving poisonous potions. The escape door was guarded by two dead twin girls with no faces.
“The basement was definitely the scariest part,” said senior landscape contracting major David Penkrot.
OPPerations Committee and Theta Chi worked together for weeks in advance on gathering all the supplies and equipment and setting up with the house. They went above and beyond putting together a spine-chilling experience for hundreds of people Sunday night. Their regard and concern for children affected by cancer was evident and their enthusiasm for putting together this event for the kids was clear as day.
